The purpose of ONI Garage is supporting people in the enjoyment of their cars and this hobby. By providing value to the community, we help like-minded people get the most out of their projects. To us, this is what the car community is all about, and exactly what made car- and style-specific forums so valuable back in the day. 

We aim to contribute to that in two ways:

1. Parts and Services: We design and supply performance parts for Japanese sports cars, specifically the Mazda MX-5 (NA/NB) and RX-7, extending to the S-chassis and AE86. From offering select brands and parts we believe in, to wiring in standalone Engine Management Systems, and developing our own solutions for getting the most amount of enjoyment out of the cars we love.
   
2. Paying forward Knowledge: Sharing the insights that helped us get started in this hobby by documenting essential resources, creating Technical Guides related to our areas of expertise, and posting about products and projects we are excited about. We are also here to provide guidance to help you navigate complex projects with confidence.

Focusing on these platforms is a conscious decision that goes back to our purpose. The JDM world is massive, and creating solutions that actually have a positive impact on balance and performance requires one to live and breathe that specific platform. Understanding what works and what doesn’t, and being able to try out concepts and ideas before sending something out into the world. If your project falls outside our area of expertise, we encourage you (and where possible, will help you) to look toward shops that specialize in your specific chassis or project goal!

What’s also important is our philosophy when it comes to modifying and setting up the cars we work on. At ONI Garage, we believe that true performance (the car doing the thing it is meant to do) comes from balance. And that can mean many things:

• Feeding in a bit more steering after flicking the car into a drift to scrub off some speed? Balance.
• Having intake and exhaust notes at just the right volume to still hear the music during a night drive? Balance.
• Using your car project as a stress reliever while it’s also the source of many bloody knuckles? Balance.

Conversely, having a stripped-out interior in a street car or 400hp in a Miata with stock 1.6 brakes is not balance, in our opinion.

Essentially, our definition of balance is the right combination of modifications to maximize potential without upsetting the vehicle’s original spirit. Maybe this is Mazda’s “Jinba Ittai” rubbing off on us, but this philosophy guides everything we develop, and it’s the perspective we take in our technical guides.
